It has been a great pleasure working with Davis, first as an intern and then as a graduate student.  Davis did outstanding research on developing biotechnology systems for genetic enhancement of rose, including resistance to rose rosette virus.  This work sets the stage for a new era of crop improvement of landscape plants.  Davis was always  great to work with and always jumped in to help with just about anything.  It’s hard to ruffle his feathers and I don’t think I ever heard him complain, despite the completely unreasonable things we asked him to do.  We expect great things from you, Davis, and look forward to watching your life and career unfold.  Best wishes.
