Advisor Comments (Dr. Ricardo Hernandez):
I had the pleasure to advice Matthew during his Agroecology degree, which frankly was a very easy process since Mat was always performing very well on his course work and he also had clear and define goals. I also had the opportunity to teach Matthew in my senior level course, the material of the course is difficult; however, Matthew had no difficulty with assignments and exams, he also often asked questions that required higher level thinking demonstrating his critical thinking skills. I also got to interact with Matthew outside the University, he completed a capstone project directly working with a local vertical farm. He was given the task to solve real problems and improve production practices. He designed an experiment, executed the research, collected the data, and presented results. The results are now being used by the vertical farm company and have improved production practices. Matthew’s strong academic background, hands on experience, and great personality ensure the success on his professional career. I wish you the best Matthew and please stay in contact.
