How are you planning to use your degree?

I am planning on using my degree to improve both the growth of horticulture plants and their businesses. With the knowledge of proper plant care in the nursery/greenhouse industry and business know-how, I cannot wait to do great things.

AEE Club, Horticulture Club, and Pi Alpha Xi- Lota Honor Society.

Whom do you want to thank?

I would like to thank my advisors Dr. Helen Kraus and Dr. Barbara Kirby for being invested in my education and my personal growth. Their knowledge and guidance have been crucial to my success. I would also like to thank my family who has loved me unconditionally and supported me in accomplishing my dream.

What is the best thing about studying horticulture at NC State?

The best thing about studying horticulture at NC State is the community of students and faculty. As well as the hands-on experience students receive.

Do you have plans for after graduation? Are you currently working?

My plans after graduation are to return home to the Brevard, NC area where I will be going to work at MrMaples. MrMaples is Japanese maple nursery specializing in Japanese maples, conifers, and other woody perennials.

Helen Kraus (Horticultural Science Advisor)

I have never had the opportunity to advise and teach sisters. Fortunately, my first sisters brought me a tremendous amount of joy. Although – I admit I had trouble learning to recognize them individually at first. Caroline is hardworking and persistent. She stays on top of deadlines and will keep asking questions and working until she figures something out. She is also sweet and caring. If ever a fellow student, or I, needs help, she is ready and willing. Her tenacity and loving heart will carry her far in life.
