Whom do you want to thank?

My family and friends for motivating me to continue my education and supporting me throughout my time at NC State, my professors for guiding and showing me how to best utilize my degree in the future, and my employer, Brent Lineberger, for introducing me to the job I love.

What is the best thing about studying horticulture at NC State?

The focus and attention that professors throughout the department are able to show students that help them not only in the classroom, but also in the professional world.

Do you have plans for after graduation? Are you currently working?

I plan to continue working as a climber for Lineberger’s Tree Service in Raleigh, and plan to take my ISA exam soon after graduation to become a fully certified arborist.

Julieta Sherk (Hort Teaching Faculty)

Josh is a dedicated student.  He enhanced the class with his real-world work experiences in the industry.

Josh was part of the group of students who had to navigate COVID.  During spring 2020. He and his classmates showed tenacity, responsibility, and resilience in wearing masks, keeping social distance, using hand sanitizer and emotionally navigating the stressful time, while continuing to learn and apply new concepts and supporting each other.

Josh applies what he learns successfully.  He is a quick learner and created a well thought out design proposals in all my classes.

Many student work and study and this makes for challenging balancing act.  Josh was not only able to find a good balance, but also was able to share his expertise with other students during class. He is aligned for success.

During his education, he worked at a top-notch industry where he earned respect and admiration. I am excited to call him my bright, and dedicated (now) colleague.

I wish him great success in his future career in the industry!
