  • Degree: Bachelor (Spring 2021)
  • Advisor: Dr. Helen Kraus

What was your degree(s) or focus?

My degree is Horticultural Science, and my focus was fruit and vegetable production.

How are you planning to use your degree?

I would like to work in Agricultural Extension.

Whom do you want to thank?

I would like to thank my husband, Elliot Peele, whose unwavering support allowed me to be able to finish my degree. I would like to thank Helen Kraus for her guidance this year in class selection, and Brian Jackson, for always being an inspiration to me during my horticultural journey.

What is the best thing about studying horticulture at NC State?

I’ve been inspired by so many of my classes to try new things, and follow new passions. I came to NCSU wanting, simply, to graft tomatoes. I’m leaving with a wealth of knowledge and new appreciation for so many different types of plants that I would not have otherwise taken an interest in.

Clubs and Activities

  • PAX
  • Horticulture Club

Do you have plans for after graduation? Are you currently working?

I am currently working with Apical Lawns as a landscaper, and plan in the future to take additional certification classes. I’ve grown a love for cut flower production, and plan to try my hand with that as a small grower. I would love to work in Agricultural Extension, so I’m excited to continue learning, as plants are infinite- I learn about a new one every day.
