Advisor Comments (Anne Spafford)
Zohara Scott hails from New Zealand by way of Apex, NC. She is graduating this semester in the Landscape Design, Gardens & Urban Environments path, and with not one, but two minors: Biological Sciences and Entomology.
Zohara is an extraordinary student and person—always seeking out experiences and opportunities that will augment her knowledge, skills, and abilities. She has been incredibly active in Pi Alpha Xi. She has also assisted with teaching the plant identification courses, and even helped Dr. Fonteno develop and teach a photography course. She spent numerous Saturday mornings helping manage the Pollinator Living Lab on the Talley Student Center roof.
I appreciate all the energy, questions, and discussion contributions Zohara brought to my classes. It is an unparalleled joy to see when a subject truly resonates with a student—in Zohara’s case, it was planting design. But what I really appreciate is how she bridges course content, such as planting design and entomology. I cannot wait to see the ecologically designed gardens she develops.
She is well on her way to making a positive impact on the world around us: She has landed a job with Landvision Designs here in Raleigh.
Congratulations, Zohara!
