How are you planning to use your degree?
I plan to use my degree throughout the rest of my life to find work, to show my educational skills, and to stay apart of the park as an alumnus.
Whom do you want to thank?
I want to thank all of the Horticulture staff and professors that helped me on my journey, and want to thank my advisor Helen Kraus for all the effort and advice she’s given me, even before I was a student here.
What is the best thing about studying horticulture at NC State?
The best part about studying horticulture is the reaction that you get from people when you tell them you’re studying plants. They are amazed, and immediately tell you about a problem that they’re having with a plant they own. I’ve found it to be a great way to connect with people and establish new friendships.

Do you have plans for after graduation? Are you currently working?
I currently work as an independent contractor for a marketing company and plan to go back to school in the future to further my education.

Eric’s inquisitive mind leads him to want to explore many aspects of Horticulture. He is equally happy learning about nursery management as he is learning about small scale landscape design. He really loves the science and inquiry parts of Horticulture. He plans on pursuing graduate education and a career in research.
